Deep in the roots of an old pine tree live the children of the forest: Tom, Harriet, Sam and Daisy. They like to play with their friends the squirrels, the frogs, the bats, attend school lessons with the old forest owl, let themselves be frightened by the cave troll, fight ants, dam the stream and marvel at the nightly dance of the elves.

They spend their days playing hide-and-seek with the squirrels in the autumn and when winter comes, the sledges are pulled out and stories are told in the evenings by the glow of the fire.

Each season of the year brings the children its own adventures – but perhaps spring holds the best surprise of all…

The book describes the simple but happy life of a family, in which one person stands up for the other and family comes first. It conveys an understanding of the liveliness and togetherness experienced with nature, following its seasons closely and respecting what surrounds us.

With theatrical elements, the children are invited to experience all the seasons of the year  -  this is an interactive story.
